THE
LUXURY
OF HOME
A Boston fixture, the Franklin Park Zoo opened in 1912. Today, it welcomes thousands of visitors every year who come to learn about animals from around the world. Here is some of what you can discover near our Cambridge apartments:
Step into this exhibit to explore the rainforest. Tropical Forest is home to dozens of free-flying birds and exciting animals you can observe through five glass viewing stations. A highlight includes the western lowland gorillas. These magnificent creatures live in the jungles and swamps of Central America. They're a vocal species, with over 22 vocalizations like screaming, barking, and hooting. In the wild, western lowland gorillas live up to 40 years and up to 60 years in captivity.
Follow the sounds of the roars to find Kalahari Kingdom. It's where you'll discover the majestic African lions. They're the only big cats that are social and live in groups called pride. Males are easily identified by their manes. Both males and females feature tan or yellow-brown fur and have long canine teeth that suit their hunting style in the wild. Kalahari Kingdom is also home to red river hogs, yellow-footed tortoises, and kori bustards.
Go behind the scenes to learn more about the red pandas. Also called the first panda, these animals are known for their unique characteristics. They spend most of their day in the trees and become more active during the early morning and late afternoon hours. The tour helps support the zoo's mission to protect these pandas and all endangered species. You can easily register for this experience online.
For another way to have some fun, explore local art museums. Finally, if you would like to call Flats on First home, please contact us. Our team would love for you to see our apartments in Cambridge firsthand.
